Ty Mawr is a collection of five independent cottages gathered around a handsome Georgian house in the Usk Valley, each converted from former estate buildings and given its own character. The atmosphere is quietly indulgent rather than showy: somewhere to settle properly, whether you have spent the day out on the hills or not left the grounds at all. Private patios and garden spaces make it easy to drift outside with a coffee or a glass of wine, and the surrounding 12-acre park gives the whole place a sense of room and calm. Hay-on-Wye is within reach for bookshops and slow afternoons, while the surrounding Usk Valley brings a softer, more pastoral side to the Beacons.
