Gelli Newydd in North Wales

Why we love it

What makes Gelli Newydd stand out is its sense of ease: a former farmstead in 22 acres where the landscape does most of the work. You arrive to open skies, hills and water, then settle into a slower rhythm of walking straight from the door, returning rosy-cheeked, and sinking into a hot tub as dusk folds over Snowdonia. It feels private, spacious and deeply restful without ever being remote from the best of this corner of North Wales.

About the Property

Gelli Newydd is a thoughtful conversion of a former hill farm, now a small collection of cottages set among 22 acres in Snowdonia National Park. The appeal lies in the balance it strikes: properly comfortable interiors with a polished, contemporary finish, yet a setting that still feels rooted in the landscape. Days here begin with the temptation to head straight out onto the surrounding hill and lakeside paths, and end beside the wood burner or under the stars in a private hot tub. The village is close enough for an easy pub walk, while the wider pleasures of Eryri, from mountain scenery to the coast, are within easy reach. It suits guests who want both comfort and breathing space.

Location

Snowdonia National Park

This part of Snowdonia offers a softer, greener side to Eryri, where wooded hills, lakes and rushing waterfalls shape the landscape. Around nearby Trefriw and Betws-y-Coed, the days lend themselves to river walks, long lunches in old village pubs and drives that open onto mountain views without much effort. The Conwy coast is close enough for a change of scene, but the real draw is the variety: forest trails, upland paths and water at every turn. It is a corner of North Wales that rewards both active days and slower ones.
