Why we love it
What sets Dovedale Cottages apart is their position: tucked high at the top of Hall Dale, between two of the Peak District’s loveliest valleys, with the sort of stillness that makes you slow down almost at once. These are old farm buildings restored with warmth rather than showiness, so the experience feels rooted in the landscape around them — stone, fields, long views and walking straight from the door into some of Derbyshire’s most quietly beautiful country.

About the Property
Set on Church Farm in the heart of the Peak District National Park, these Grade II listed cottages have an easy, lived-in charm that suits their surroundings. Interiors lean traditional — beamed ceilings, old furniture, open fires and a gentle country-house mood — but the real luxury is the sense of seclusion and calm. Private gardens look out over the surrounding hills, and the days here naturally fall into a slower rhythm: morning walks from the doorstep, afternoons tracing the folds of Dovedale or the Manifold Valley, and evenings back by the fire. On an organic farm in a particularly peaceful corner of the Peaks, this is a place for switching off properly.
Location
Stanshope, Peak District
Stanshope sits in a quietly privileged part of the southern Peak District, between Dovedale and the Manifold Valley, where limestone dales, dry-stone walls and grazing land shape the landscape. It’s an area made for unhurried days outdoors: footpaths threading through valleys, high ground with broad views, and villages that still feel tied to the farming countryside around them. Dovedale draws walkers for good reason, but this corner of the national park also rewards those who prefer the less hurried routes — places where the scenery is every bit as striking, only gentler in mood.
