Why we love it
Upcott Farm is all about space in the fullest sense: space to gather, space to disappear for a quiet hour, and space all around you in the form of rolling Somerset countryside and wide, star-filled skies. The setting feels genuinely restorative, with the kind of calm that settles in as soon as you arrive, whether you are sharing long meals in the barn, slipping into a hot tub at dusk or wandering down to the pond with a drink as the light fades.

About the Property
Set on the edge of Exmoor, Upcott Farm brings together a generous barn conversion and a restored hayloft, creating a stay that suits big family gatherings without ever feeling crowded. Interiors are warm and tactile rather than grand, with exposed beams, soft colours and wood burners giving the whole place an easy, country-house feel. The best moments happen at an unhurried pace: breakfast on the elevated terrace, children roaming the surrounding land, an afternoon read by the fire, then stargazing from the balcony once night falls. Two hot tubs and a tranquil pond add to the sense of retreat, while the split layout means there is room for both sociable evenings and a little privacy.
Location
Dulverton and Exmoor
This is a quieter corner of Somerset, where the landscape begins to fold into the moor and days are shaped by fresh air and long walks. Dulverton is an appealing base for exploring Exmoor, with pretty streets, good food and an easy connection to the surrounding hills, rivers and wooded valleys. Nearby, the countryside opens out into big skies and dark nights, making this a lovely place for stargazing as well as walking. Tarr Steps, Wimbleball Lake and the small villages scattered across the national park give the area a gentle sense of discovery.
