Why we love it
Roscarrock earns its place for one simple reason: the setting is woven into the stay. From its perch above Porthcothan Bay, the house seems to live with the tide, the dune light and the weather rolling in off the Atlantic. You are never far from the view, never far from the beach, and the rhythm here becomes wonderfully elemental: coffee looking out to sea, a walk straight onto the coast path, a swim, then back to the warmth of the sauna as evening settles over the headland.

About the Property
Roscarrock is a modern coastal house that feels unusually grounded in its landscape. The architecture is clean and expansive, but the atmosphere is warm rather than showy, with large panes of glass drawing the bay into almost every room. The heart of the house is an open living space that spills onto an elevated terrace, made for long lunches, sea air and watching the light shift across Porthcothan. A gate in the garden leads directly to the coast path and down towards the sand, so beach days begin almost at the doorstep. Back at the house, the outdoor sauna and indoor steam room give the whole stay a restorative edge, especially after windswept walks or cold-water swims.
Location
Porthcothan Bay
Porthcothan Bay is one of north Cornwall’s quieter pleasures: a broad, sandy cove edged by grassy headlands and a landscape that still feels open and unforced. This stretch of coast is made for walkers, swimmers and anyone happiest with salt in the air. The South West Coast Path runs close by, linking a chain of beautiful bays and hidden beaches, while Padstow is near enough for a good lunch or an evening out. Even so, the real appeal is staying put: sea, sky and long Atlantic light doing most of the work.
