Why we love it
What stays with you here is the immediacy of the water. Ferry Side sits right on the edge of the Camel Estuary, so the whole house feels tuned to tide, light and weather: coffee with boats drifting past, long lunches with Padstow across the water, dusk settling silver-blue over the shoreline. For all its architectural confidence, it never feels showy; it is a house that lets the view do the talking.

About the Property
Ferry Side is a contemporary coastal retreat with a strong sense of place. Inside, pale clay plaster, timber, linen and softly muted colours keep the mood grounded, while broad glazing pulls the estuary into everyday life. The main living space is made for unhurried gathering, opening out towards the water so that meals, reading and conversation unfold against a changing marine backdrop. Bedrooms continue the same calm tone, several with their own outlook onto the estuary, and the principal suite feels particularly cocooning. Downstairs, the atmosphere shifts: a dark, walnut-lined cinema and games room, with its concealed bar, gives evenings a more playful rhythm. Outside, a sunken vitality pool on the terrace adds another reason to linger between beach walks and boat-watching.
Location
Rock, Cornwall
Rock has long been one of North Cornwall’s most polished seaside addresses, but its appeal is quieter than its reputation suggests. Set on the Camel Estuary opposite Padstow, it offers that particular mix of broad skies, tidal water, sailing culture and good food that makes a stay feel effortlessly easy. Days tend to unfold outdoors here, whether walking the shoreline, catching the ferry across the estuary, or lingering over lunch after a morning on the water. Nearby beaches and dunes soften the scene, while St Enodoc and the lanes inland bring a more rural, old-Cornwall feel.
